A single touch can be used for more than one purpose; for example, touch can be used as an assertive touch, to provide information, to give nurturance in caring touch, and touch can be used as therapeutic intervention. Touching can be used as a type of communication, and this includes the good touch/bad touch technique. The following articles only discuss the benefits, or good touch, in the interpersonal relationship. Touch is an essential part of the human experience from birth to death. Within the concept of touch there are many branches and types. The main ideas that are to be discussed include the concept, why it was chosen, information on the three selected articles and finally a model case. Touch is not looked upon, as a scientific approach to healing, however, with all of the research about touch being done and all of the articles and/or periodicals being written touch is becoming the new aged way of healing.
The concept to be discussed is touch, but more specifically the benefits of touch in the interpersonal relationship. The meaning of an interpersonal relationship is a relationship that can be shared between two living things or a living thing and an inanimate object.
