Cinema Paradiso is an Italian movie directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. This movie is set in a small Sicilian village around 1945 until present times. It is the coming of age story about Salvatore or Toto. As a little boy, Toto loved movies and spent most of his time at the local theater. This is where he meets Alfredo, who later becomes his dear friend. After an accident in the theater, Alfredo loses his sight, forcing Toto to take over. Alfredo doesn't want to see Toto have the life that he once had and tells Toto to leave and never return. However, when Toto has grown up and become a successful movie director, he learns of Alfredo's death and does return. Returning for Alfredo's funeral makes him remember his roots, his childhood and how magical the movies were to him as a child.
