An Environmental Holocaust
Of the Greenhouse Effects
Our Earth is constantly kept warm by its atmosphere, without it, the average surface temperature would be about 18 degrees Centigrade. Heat from the sun passes through the atmosphere and warms the planet's surface. Shortly thereafter, it releases heat in the form of infra-red radiation; this heat is also known as "greenhouse gases". These "greenhouse gases" make the atmosphere trap more of this radiation, so it gradually warms up more than it should, like a greenhouse
Throughout the years scientists have discovered what constitutes this heat, they have found that gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and newly discovered gas, known as chlorofluorocarbons permit incoming solar radiation into the Earth's atmosphere, thus producing a global warming. Chlorofluorocarbon, or CFC has been introduced as a man made refrigerant, solvent and aerosol propellant, but it is also a very powerful greenhouse gas, because it can trap a lot of radiation than needed. For example, one molecule of CFC is 12,000 to 16,000 times as effective at absorbing infra-red radiation as a molecule of carbon dioxide, thus affecting our climate's drastic change in weather.
Nevertheless, there is no doubt that over the years, humans have become extremely dependent upon on our Earth's climate, which helps to determine the availability of resources that are needed. There are many potential effects associated with our climates change such as water and coastal resources, health, agriculture, forests, energy, and transportation.
Whether scientists discover a new species or archeologist find hidden treasure, there is no doubt that vast information is needed to educate and create awareness on the conservation of our planet. Over the years, the population has risen drastically and the demand for food, materials, and other resources such as minerals and fuels are needed daily...
