Raising Children
Children's minds go through many stages of development as they grow. Around elementary school age they can learn concrete ideas, but not abstract ones. Because children learn differently than adults, they require special teaching methods. Some of the reasons for this are how they think about numbers differently, how they do not know the true meaning of behavior, and how they have trouble memorizing information.
A child is unable to comprehend numbers like adults can. However, using pictures to illustrate numbers allows children to visualize them better. An excellent way to teach a child about numbers is with number puzzles. Encourage them to say the number as they put the pieces in the puzzle. Even better, read books about numbers and counting with the kids and discuss them afterwards. You can point out and count the objects on each page for the children...
