How democratic was The Age of Jackson (1828-1848)? The Age of Jackson can be looked at as an age of growing egalitarianism or the era of the common man. By setting the example of a common man rising to great positions in our society, Andrew Jackson proved that any man could rise above their current social status. Specific changes in American society can show the advancement of American economy, social, and cultural standards. The market revolution, the Second Great Awakening and the Indian Removal are prime examples of the economic and social advancements that were made during this time period.
The market revolution (1815-1850) is the best example of all the advancements both social and economical. There are five main areas of the market revolution that show dramatic changes in the American way of life. First is the area of travel and transportation.
