Young Goodman Brown is a story of faith and how a man lost all aspects of his own on one dreary night. Goodman Brown lost faith in his wife, coincidentally named Faith, adorned by pink ribbons. He lost faith drastically in those around him; townspeople, churchgoers, as well as those who were head of the church. And most importantly, the pious man lost his faith in his God and the virtues that coincided with his faith.
The marriage between Goodman Brown and Faith was severely altered after his late night errand. While on the darkened path, Goodman Brown thought of being in Faith's sweet arms. Soon after he witnesses the betrayal of others to God, he discovers Faith's pink ribbon deep in the forest. In agony he cries, "Faith is gone!" and in saying this, there were more meanings than simply the one of his wife. Upon his return to Salem, it is revealed that Faith has not gone away...
