After reading Franz Kafka’s book The Trial, I found my self intrigued by the story that he had written. ... I’m going to discuss one of them and talk about how they affiliate with Kafka’s personal life. The main discussion that I will go into depth about will be the role the women played in his life and how some of the different women in the book resemble his past lovers.
In The Trial, Kafka had quite a few women characters throughout his story. I feel that every one of these women resembled someone from his personal life. Frau Grubach, a lady that was the owner of the room that Josef K. had been renting out was sort of a mother figure to K. She was an older lady that took care of her boarders, but valued K. ... From reading the text it seemed as if she was always there to listen and talk to K. ... His emotions and attitude toward Grubach were different compare to the feelings he had with the other women in the book. It seemed K. ... “K. ... In Kafka’s personal life, he had gotten real sick with tuberculosis and lived his life in emotional dependence on his parents, which he loved and resented. ... The next character in Kafka’s story is Fraulein Burstner. ... Josef K. ... Kafka describes her to be a girl with an outlook of thinking about her life only and she doesn’t care about anybody else’s. ... K. ... From my perspective, I feel if she talks to K. ... Elsa, the cabaret dancer and the woman that was the usher’s wife made me think of them as one of the many girls that Kafka had been with. K. had something more with Leni, which was the lawyer’s nurse, it was a relationship as if they had known each other for a long time and got along very well.
