There is one basketball game I will never forget. I was a sophomore in high school; the year was 1987. It was the first game of the regional tournament held at Phelps High School. At that time I felt that I had let down my dad and our whole community. I wasn't a starter on the varsity team, but I always played three quarters or more of the game. The newspapers called me the "Super Sub". I averaged twelve points, six rebounds and five assists per game.
Beverly Smallwood had been our leading scorer and point guard. She got into foul trouble early and spent a big part of the game on the bench before fouling out. There was three minutes to go in the game...
