It was a clear and sunny day in River Heights with all the people heading towards one direction, the ballpark. It was the major league baseball finals and it was the game two of the five-game series between the River Heights Falcons and the Mill City Rangers. Nancy, Bess and George were headed towards the ballpark to watch their friend, Luke Darlington and the newest relief pitcher for the Falcons, Sean “Showboat” Reeves. As the game progresses into a seemingly sweet victory for the Falcons, a mascot, Freddy the Falcon, comes out in the eight inning and secretly gives a note to Sean. They end up making a scene and Sean starts to pitch badly. His poor pitching cost them the game making the series dead even. When they were heading towards the locker room, they saw a sullen Rod Sanders, the starting pitcher and they discovered that the original Freddy the Falcon was attacked.
