In the old days it was perceived that the only thing women were good for were having kids, raising them, and taking care of the house. In the past women were never allowed to have jobs or make the money. In fact, women also weren't very educated because of the fact they people felt they didn't need it because they needed to learn about things around the house. They had very few rights, and were not allowed to take part in anything involving the community, including voting. Today all of that has changed. However, sexism is still a rather big issue in today's society. Although women have many more rights then they ever have, issues of equality are still alive.
One of the many professions that is usually male-dominate is carpentry. Rarely do you ever see a female carpenter. I feel that women have been excluded from this profession because men do not think that women are able to handle the work...
