The reason why I want to pursue fine art is because to me, this is where my interest and fascination lies. I have found great pleasure and satisfaction in exploring the different ways I can create art and discovering the techniques manipulated by a number of contemporary artists. Fine art has allowed me to express my own feelings and thoughts as well as examining current issues through my work. As my art and design foundation course has progressed, I have become increasingly confident in the medium of paint and trying more abstract ways of expressing myself.
The course has provided me with various opportunities to experience different forms of art and the processes by which they are made, the most memorable of which was our five day trip to Venice. The purpose of the visit was to attend the 50th anniversary of the Biennale arts festival which was held over three days. I found everything about the city enthralling, especially the varied art pieces and the settings in which they were displayed. For example installation pieces by Damien Hirst and Caral Rama.
We also took a trip to Derbyshire where we focused our work on the landscape and taking reference from the naturalistic work of Andy Goldsworthy. Following on from this we watched a documentary film about his work...
