Good Earth Essay
The Chinese lifestyle was once chauvinistic, appreciative of the earth, and family oriented. Pearl Buck shows these characteristics in her novel, The Good Earth. This novel is about a man named Wang Lung, his life, and his fluctuating fortune. Wang Lung was selfish, joyful, and generous. Wang was joyful when his first son was born, and when he was married. He was also selfish when he took the pearl earrings from O-Lan. Wang Lung was generous as shown in his openhandedness, selfish as seen in his burglary, and joyful as displayed during various times in his life. But Wang Lung's personality wasn't eternal.
