A Distorted Image
Modern women should strive to overcome the media's portrayal of the ideal female body. This can be a lifelong challenge for women who are easily influenced by the media. It is through the media's use of models, commercials, advertisements, magazine articles, and the actresses on television that a female becomes pressured to achieve ultra thin bodies. In the process of trying to attain these body images, women may become obsessed. Many women do not realize that being beautiful is more than the attainment of a perceived perfect weight. The media has left devastating consequences on our culture through the promotion of a distorted body image, leaving vulnerable women feeling ashamed and miserable. The results in trying to attain the ideal body can leave women with psychological damage and an eating disorder.
