I have chosen this artwork for the description of expressionism.
Expressionism makes us "feel" the artwork, there is a certain emotion to be felt, whether it is anger, happiness, depression, love, whether or not it is an emotional and/or psychological "feeling".
Edvard Munch says it all in his own words:
"I was walking along a path with two friends the sun was setting suddenly the sky turned blood red I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature."

This is an example of abstraction.
Abstraction is the form of taking something real, people, animals, buildings, and simplifying it or them. The object(s) remain recognizable in their new "form" no matter what the new form is.
Pablo Picasso displays imitationalism in this work, he took a real human being holding a flower, and "simplified" them by using some geometrical shapes and the disproportioned body. He uses bright vivid colors, which brings feelings of happiness and simplicity when viewing this painting.
