Leadership: Pericles, Socrates, and Kreon

The issue of leadership is a multifaceted one, and, upon examination, one is often confused as to what qualities constitute better leadership skills. Is it more important to believe in divine law, or to speak for order and respect at the human level? Is it more important for a leader to have citizens pursue inner happiness at any cost, or is it better to preserve the health of the city-state at all costs? These are just a few of the decisions that have to be made in order to accurately compare the leadership qualities of Pericles, Socrates, and Kreon. Upon exploration, this topic will yield interesting results. An intense effort will be made in order to uncover the leadership qualities that contributed to the social, political, and economic decisions made by these great men as they relate to the condition of their respective city-states.
The first leader that will be analyzed is Pericles. He was an Athenian statesman that was so influential in Athenian history that the period of his power was known as the Age of Pericles. With respect to politics, Pericles sought to enable all citizens to take an active part in government.
