Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a thrilling play about Macbeth's desperate search for power. The witches prophesized that Macbeth would become the Thane of Cowdor, then king. Their words were greatly believed since during that time witches played an important role in society and were highly influential and sought for advice. After winning a battle, Macbeth did indeed become the Thane of Cowdor. This having happened only strengthened Macbeth's desire to become king. He now feels that the only way to fulfill the witches' last prophecy is by taking matters into his own hands, to speed up the process of him becoming king. The seventh scene of this play is a soliloquy that shows Macbeth's internal battle. He ponders how to kill the king, the integrity of it, and even the consequences should go through with it. In this soliloquy, Macbeth is shown to be aware of the evil and immorality of his action.
