My Case Against: "The Case Against College"
While the argument on going to college has been accepted without questions for generations, as Mrs. Bird states, I do not enjoy the point she is trying to get across to her readers. She attempts to tell her readers, in the essay "The Case Against College", that the pursuit for higher education is merely a golden crib intended to keep us "kids" away from home and away from the workforce. A college, according to her, is used to take up the time that we spend pondering about what career we finally decide to take. Then after we decide, the college slaps us with a degree, whether it is a masters or a doctorate. It only symbolizes, in Birds eyes, the amount of time we've wasted in deciding our futures. I am not wasting my time and I do not agree with Mrs. Bird to any extent.
