Robber Barons or Captains of Industry
The Period of Invention after the Civil War set the stage for great industrial growth. Still, it took a lot more than technology to transform the United States. It took shrewd businessmen and wealthy investors willing to gamble on new products to make the United States in a country of industrial growth. During this time their we people many would consider Robber Barons however I firmly believe that they were not Robber Barons but Captains of Industry. Without these men and there sometimes immoral practices our country might not be what it is today.
By saying the great industrialists of this time were Captains of Industry we are saying that as business leaders they served the nation in a positive way. This is something they definitely did. Thanks to these Captains of Industry, there was an increasing number of supply of goods by building factories, raised productivity, and expansion in new and used markets. As Industrialists they also created many jobs that made it possible for the Americans to buy their new goods. As well as founding Museums, Libraries, and Universities many of which as still around and thriving today...
