The article I chose for this assignment is titled "Hodgkin's
Disease." Hodgkin's disease is also knows as Hodgkin's lymphoma.
With this disease, cells in the lymphatic system grow abnormally and
can spread beyond the lymphatic system. Eventually, your body
loses its ability to fight infection and tumors develop. Hodgkin's
disease usually affects people between the ages of 15 and 24 and
people older than 55. Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's
lymphoma are two of the most common types of cancers in the
lymphatic system. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is the most common,
with 53,000 new cases reported in 2003 in the United States. In the
same year, there were only 7,600 new cases of Hodgkin's disease.
Signs and symptoms of Hodgkin's disease include painless swelling
of lymph nodes in your neck, armpits, and groin; persistence fatigue;
fever and chills; night sweats; weight loss; loss of appetite; and
severe itching. The cause of this disease is unknown, but it involves
the development of abnormal B nodes, which are important to your
body's immune system...
