Background/Problem- In this project, the problem is to find out which solutions will cause the carrot slices to lose water and which solutions will cause the carrot slices to take up water. We are doing this project because it relates to how hypertonic, isotonic, and hypotonic has to do with the cell.
Hypothesis- My hypothesis for this project is that pure water will cause the carrot to gain more weight and water and the high salty water will make the carrot lose weight and water.
Materials-
~ Raw carrot ~ grease pencil
~ triple beam balance ~ 0.2M, 0.4M, and 0.6M NaCI (salt)
~ blade Solutions
~ 4 petri dishes ~ Paper towels
~ distilled water ~ calculator
Procedure-
1. Using the blade, carefully slice the carrot into disks...
