Bacterial Transformation
INTRODUCTION:
Purpose: This lab demonstrated transformation in a relatively simple procedure. E. coli cells were introduced to a transforming plasmid, briefly heat shocked, and then plated out on a nutrient agar which contains the antibiotic ampicillin that selects for transformants. We observed the transformation of bacteria to ampicillin resistance.
Hypothesis: We had No idea whatsoever what to expect from this experiment. That is the truth. Upon returning to the lab on the second day we figured out what was going on and realized that
