"First to Die" was a well planned out mystery novel. In the beginning it lets the reader into a woman police officer's life who is dealing with a physical crisis. Lindsay Boxer keeps her secret to herself through the first of the book. She is given a new partner Chris Reiligh and begins a case that is unlike any other. She develops an intense hatred towards the killer of a newly wed Bride and Groom and begins devoting herself to cracking the case and trying to put her fatal sickness in the back of her mind. Her best friend Claire Washburn, the medical examiner of the murdered bodies, also takes an interest and craving for finding the killer. Throughout the case Lindsay deals with the strain of her fatal weakness and knowing she is falling for her new partner. After police believe the killer has struck a second time Lindsay is confronted with an unwavering yet sympathetic reporter, Cindy Thomas, whom she makes a pact with to keep any new evidence and clues under wraps until she says otherwise. Soon after Lindsay takes Cindy to meet Claire, the Women's Murder Club was formed. Altogether they team up and begin piecing evidence and left behind clues together...
