To be a proficient golfer, the human body needs strength, flexibility, fluidity, and perfect mechanics. However, to become an elite level golfer, the body needs a mind capable of repetitive performance of the fine motor movement of putting. Only a select few individuals in the world are capable of combining the body and the mind to compete at the elite levels of golf. The ability to focus and concentrate is what separates golfers with good technical skills from golfers on the PGA Tour. Golfers at this elite level are able to use several mental techniques to enhance performance and compete successfully. The use of mental imagery is utilized by golfers year round to train their minds to be able to visualize the stroke or swing, the environment, such as the gallery and the leader board, the outcome of a particular shot, and the outcome of winning or losing an event (Short et al., 2002).
