Tom Walker was a mean and miserly person. He was evil and devilish. Tom Walker's wife was as miserly as Tom. She would hide anything she could get her hands on. She would hide the new-laid eggs from the hen since she could not hide the hen. When Tom Walker first encountered the stranger in the forest he was not afraid. The stranger tried to make a bargin with Tom but tom would not accept because his wife wanted him to. So Tom's wife decided to go into the forest to drive the bargain on her own account. She wanted to keep the gain to herself. When she goes into the forest, she takes they're household valuables...
