Draught and flooding are two big problems in the world; however, in the state of Colorado we are facing a huge problem with draught. Trillions of gallons of water flow out of Colorado every year to 18 other states and Mexico. Now because of this we are now entering our fifth year in drought because the state has not reached its amount of water that it is suppose to get each year. The people in Colorado do not reactive enough water for themselves let alone 18 other states plus Mexico. Throughout the past decade, there has been a dramatic increase in floods and droughts, due to fewer dams and frequent drought; it has become apparent that preventive actions must be taken. This essay will explain the causes of drought, the effects of drought and how we can prevent it.
In Colorado one of the most environmental issues that we have as a state is drought. Drought is when abnormally dry weather within a region, that expects some rain. Colorado is in the midst of the worst drought in memory and yet we let our water flow away to 18 other states and Mexico. They get our water from the Colorado River which flows down to them...
