Introduction
Christmas is widely known and celebrated worldwide in December every year. To most children (and some adults), Christmas, is known as the time when Santa visits, bringing presents for the good little children. However, there is more to this festival than this. In this report, I'll explain when Christmas is held and why, the origins of Christmas, the various customs and traditions celebrated, and foods that are enjoyed at Christmas time.
The Origins Of Christmas
The word Christmas derives from two words, Cristes Maesse, or Christ's mass. Christmas is a religious festival for Christians and marks Jesus' birthday. Jesus was born 2003 years ago, to parents Mary And Joseph. Mary was informed by an angel that she would give birth to a son and was to name him Jesus. Although Mary and Joseph lived in Nazareth, they had to travel to Bethlehem as this was Joseph's hometown and at the time, all people had to return to their hometown.
