"The Green Mile" and "Shawshank Redemption"
"The Green Mile and "Shawshank Redemption" have always been my favourite films of all time. From quickly analysing these films I can already see similarities, both of these films are of the same genre and even the same director. I suppose you could say I am a fan of Mr Frank Darabont. When the opportunity of analysing films arrived in Media studies there was only two films I really wanted to look at and with them being prison films, I wanted to analyse the role of the prisoners in both films and the representation of both of them.
The publicised film "The Green Mile" which was directed by Mr Frank Darabont and wrote by Mr Stephen King highlighted a high mark in his career. Mr Frank Darabont turned "The Green Mile" into one of the most successful films of the year in 1999. King's elements and themes are ever present within this magnificent film, which tells a spooky yet not overtly horrifying story about powers beyond this world in a place beyond our imagination. The complexity of the characters and the plot spans the course of 188 minutes, never failing in taking its time to spin its tale. The plot of the Green Mile is pretty much set in 1935, a Louisuana prison's death row receives a mysterious inmate. The man is huge and foreboding, but gentle and compassionate...
