When the narrator was looking at the building he noticed a crack from the front of the house down of the wall in a zigzag direction, he sees decaying tree’s and muddy ponds around. The house itself looked as if it were decaying. As the narrator enters the house he feels like he’s breathing an atmosphere of sorrow.
