Hate Groups in America
It seems that America has come a long way since slavery during the civil war era, and even since the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It appears that African American's are now treated as they should be, as an equal member of society. They are no longer hated or thought of as inferior. But the shocking truth is that many hate groups such as the KKK, and the Twelve Aryan Nations still exist and are in full effect. Just type in the letters kkk in your search engine and you will be connected to numerous sites of hate and violence. I have explored how and where these groups were started, how threatening they are to the safety of those who are targeted, and how we all can stop the epidemic of hate.
The Ku Klux Klan, America's first hate group, grew out of the South's Anger over the Civil War and the reconstruction. It began in 1865, when six Confederate veterans gathered in Pulaski, Tennessee to form a social club for entertainment (Axman 112).
