The Whaler.
The story is about a fisherman(a whaler) who claims that he has been around the world and seen allot of whales, but in reality he has been running some boats on The St Lawrence river system in Canada.
The setting in the story is in a ''too small, too myopic, too trivial Irish town. surrounded by green, lush, rolling hills and ''whale, tit shaped mountains''. The environment in the town is what we see in all small town societies, where people gossip and are never really satisfied with anything. The Narrator and The Whaler are small talking.
