The Light in the Forest
Development of a character throughout a book, unfolds in many different incidents. In the novel, The Light in the Forest by Conrad Richter, True Son, grows up to the reality that he is not what he has been told he is, he is not an Indian, but a white Christian. This fact builds up True Son's character.
As a boy, True Son is only aware to the education he gets from his Indian parents. He adopts their views and beliefs, without knowing the painful truth that he belongs to the enemy he is taught to hate from a young age. When he finds out that he is in fact a white Christian, True Son becomes a well rounded character. He experiences anger, love, and finally acceptance. True Son becomes tough; he grows from a child, to a young man, mentally and physically.
In order to reach maturity, one must experience different points of view. True Son observes different styles during his life...
