"One doctor has gone so far to declare that 75% of our ailments are a direct or indirect result of worry, frustration, bitterness, fear, or other mental attitudes" (Atter 62). Strictly, scientifically speaking, religious involvement helps an individual stay healthy and avoiding life threatening diseases like cancer and heart disease. Religious involvement helps people to recover faster and with fewer complications if they do develop a serious illness, live longer, encounter life-threatening and terminal illnesses with greater peacefulness and less pain, avoiding mental illness like depression and anxiety, and cope more effectively with stress. Steering clear of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco, enjoy a happier marriage and family life, and find greater sense of meaning and purpose in their life (Matthews 16). There are positive effects on health in association with religion (Matthews 37). This leaves question open for the role of divine healing in today's society.
Divine healing is not required in today's society, here is why: Exodus 29:14 and Deuteronomy 23:12-14 speaks about sanitization. It speaks about burning or burying the refuse of humans and animals. By doing this, it keeps the ground clean and prevents disease from the decay. Leviticus 11:32, 39-40 and Numbers 19:11, 31:22-23 speak of sterilization...
