"A mother's work is never done" is a saying that has echoed through the exhausted minds of housewives for hundreds of years. Their work entails them to cook, clean, care for the children all the while keeping their husbands happy and well fed. The title of housewife may seem inferior to an occupation such as doctor or lawyer but the stress takes a toll on the weary mothers. In "A Sorrowful Woman" a mother's work becomes the death of heror did she bring it upon herself?
The mother in "A Sorrowful Woman" led a sugar-coated life. She had a wonderful husband who loved her dearly and an adorable, precocious little boy. This fairytale was interrupted but a mysterious, dark force that consumed the mother. Instead of embracing her family in times she needed them most the mother pushed them far away. Oddly her withdrawal did not cause the father any concern; he was there simply to serve his wife. Why?..
