Cassandra was considered to be King Priam's most beautiful daughter and her beauty was often compared to that of Aphrodite. She was the daughter of Priam and Hecuba during the Trojan War. She lived a tragic and sorrowful life with a heart breaking end.
When Cassandra was still young she was given the power of prophecy by Apollo in return for her heart. She accepted him as a teacher but not as a lover. Because of the anger he felt after being rejected, he turned what seemed to be a blessing into a curse. From then on, Cassandra's prophecies would still be heard but would no longer be believed. There is however, a contradiction to this story. It claims that Cassandra and her twin Helenus were playing in the temple of Apollo when they happened to fall asleep. While they were sound asleep many magical serpents put their tongues into the children's ears and mouths and they were then given the wonderful gift...
