Perspectives on Slavery Essay
Slavery: the state of subjection to an owner or master. Slavery was a huge controversy in the Southern states of America, in the 1800's. Slaves were treated unfair and were discriminated against. The slaves were referred to as property and animals, and not as a regular person. Within the same country, there were different perspectives on slavery. Some were pro-slavery, and some were abolitionists who were against slavery, and some were neutral. Out of the nine people, George Fitzhugh seems to be the person who favored slavery the most. Harriet Tubman seems to be the person who was against slavery the most, and Abraham Lincoln was the person who was neutral about slavery.
George Fitzhugh stated that slavery was good and wrote pamphlets such as "Slavery Justified" and "The Failure of Free Society". He believed that slavery should continue in the South and all over the United States, and not only enslaves "inferior" blacks, but also enslave other nationalities as well...
