A Hot Lesson
Skin cancer is very prevalent in today's society(4). It was not until the last few decades that the awareness of skin cancer was known. However, today many commercials and warnings have been constructed to protect the public from the dangers of the sun. In fact, many young children remember their parents saying, "You can't go play outside until we put sun screen on." The children, who were usually one-step out the door, would turn around and would whine, "Oh mom, do I have to?" They would run back unwillingly to their moms, and she would slab sun screen on their skin before they were allowed to play at the park. That had always been the case for me, until I thought I was old enough to make my own decisions. I learned you always have to wear sun screen; I learned it the hard way.
It was Easter of 2003. I had just turned eighteen years old and was on my way to Florida with my family for vacation...
