Rwanda is a small country in central Africa bordered by, Tanzania, Burundi, Zaire, and Uganda. Its capital is Kigali, which was founded in 1907 by a British explorer, Hanning Speke. Only eleven years later the country was governed by Belgium rule under the Treaty of Versailles. Two countries were formed, Rwanda and Burundi which were controlled by two different Tutsi monarchs. The Tutsi was the minority by 15% and the Hutus was 85%. Even though the Tutsi was the minority they were the ruling African tribe.
In 1958 the Hutus revolt against the Tutsi and Belgian power, the Tutsi become intimidated by the Hutus and flee to Burundi. By 1961 the Belgians disengage from power, afraid of war. Rwanda is proclaimed a republic and becomes independent with a Hutu president, Gregoire Kayibanda. While the Tutsis were still in power, the Hutu begin the massacre and thousands...
