Out of all the topics and people that were discussed during the first part of this American History course I found Theodore Roosevelt and his many involvements to be the most interesting of all the people. Therefore I will begin to elaborate on what I learned about him.
Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York. Throughout his life he would be a man to live by his motto "Speak softly and carry a big stick." After graduating from Harvard, Roosevelt later became U.S. Civil Service Commissioner from May 7, 1889 through May 5, 1895. In 1897 President McKinley appointed Roosevelt to be the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for 1898. Here one can already see that unlike many President's Roosevelt was one who was actually a soldier of war and he didn't just talk of what he thought.
