One of the key applications in forwarding is tracking and tracing of cargo movements.
3.1.1.Uses of Tracking and Tracing
In broad view, this process will involve implementation of an information system which will provide the users comprehensive information about exact position and status of cargo.
This will facilitate all the three parties involved in shipping process.
Exporter:
Exporter can use this information to align its production processes in accordance with importer's demand; exporter will now also be able to know the exact availability of warehousing service of trader.
Tracking and positioning will also enable the exporter to know the exact position of his cargo going on its way to importer; this will help in advising importer about the more accurate arrival schedule of the cargo.
Trader:
Trader can use this information system to inform his clients (exporter and importer) about date of availability of his services.
