Throughout history the perception of women is continuously changing through several revolutions. Women go from being looked upon as slaves, people to wait on men, and not having the privilege of voting to being equal if not greater then men. In many countries women still face the inequality. Our women ancestors endured many hardships. Such hardships are illustrated in The Good Earth.
In novel, women are inferior to men. The main female character in The Good Earth, O-lon is brought into Wang Lung's home to be his "wife," but acts more as a servant. O-lan is happy that she is coming because now he could rest and not wait to father. "Now father and son could rest. There was a women coming to the house...
