1984 and Brave New World
The novel 1984 by George Orwell and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley offer two authors perspectives on what life on this earth would be like in the future. ... We are 20 years beyond 1984, and still have a couple centuries until we fit into the Brave New World time category, yet it is easy to compare life today with what Huxley and Orwell predicted life to be like. ... In Brave New World sex is rampant. ... In the world of today sex is most often viewed as something more sacred then in Brave New World. ... Marriage did not exist in Brave New World and neither did love as there were no emotions and no need for love. ... Both 1984 and Brave New World propose worlds where creativity is viewed as dangerous and is outlawed. ... Instead of the skillfully directed movies of today with many plots, sub-plots , themes, characters and conflict, the citizens of Brave New World attend “feelies”, which are devoid of any meaning at all and seem to more likely resemble porn movies. 1984 is also void of any creativity or art as music and books are produced by machines.
