Executive & Bureaucracy
Executive- The branch of government that is responsible for running the
country, provides leadership, and makes major decisions.
Dual Executive- The executive in a political system where head of state and
head of government are divided.
EX: Queen & Prime Minister, in Canada.
Single Executive- The executive in a political system where head of state
and head of government positions are combined and
occupied by 1 person. EX: the President in U.S.A.
Cabinet- A group of people chosen by the prime minister or president to
provide political direction to government departments.
Cabinet Government- A system of government where decisions are made
by the cabinet as a whole not just by the Prime
Minister or President.
Memorandum to Cabinet- the key instrument by which proposals are
brought forward by ministers for consideration
