Maya Angelou is an extraordinary woman. Being born in 1928 she has seen and experienced a lot of racial injustice which she talks about in her writings. She is a civil rights activist, screen write, play write, actress, and singer. In my eyes all of her accomplishments along with everything she stands for make her a phenomenal woman. This brings us to her title poem.
Phenomenal Woman is not only the title of a poem; it is also the title of an inspirational collection of poems about strong willed, prideful, African American women. In the poem "Phenomenal Woman" Angelou explains how physically she is not as glamorous as what today's society would identify as the ideal woman, but in her eyes she is very much so in every aspect if not more. She is so unique that she can't help but attract attention just by walking in a room; women tend to be envious of this. She is confident and proud of whom she is and shows it in her every move.
