An important part of many Greek plays is the chorus. The chorus takes the role of an all-knowing character in the play. The chorus serves an important purpose and has many lines in the play Oedipus the King.
The Chorus in any play is made up of a body of individuals. This group always travels together and often speaks in unison. They have many uses and purposes within the play. The chorus tells the audience what is going on periodically during the play. The Chorus can also talk to characters in the play and give them advice on what to do. Sometimes when action is occurring on the stage the chorus tells the audience how to react.
