Vygotskys Theory on Child Development

There have been many great theorist throughout time; such as, Piaget, Parten, and Vygotsky. Each of their views on child development are very different; however, many parents follow different methods of raising their child, but each method relates back to the theorist of the past. For example, Vygotsky believed the children learn from their experiences and their culture. Also Vygotsky believed that language is good, when a child communicates with an adult than the child is also learning new words or new ways to use the words.
To Lev Vygotsky (a Russian developmental psychologist) make-believe play is important to a child's social and cognitive development. In many different theories social and cognitive development make contact minimally. Instead of the two developments being joint they are viewed as two different domains. Although, social and cognitive development interacts with each other; such as, "The social world is a surrounding context for cognitive activity, not an integral part of it." A child's social experiences will shape the way they think and interpret the world for the rest of their lives.
