In the period of the Middle Ages a new more sophisticated form of trade was forming. Rather than bartering and receiving no profit, the citizens of this time were just learning that selling for a profit would be more beneficial. The new forms of trade were somewhat differentiating between the two major religions at this time, Christian and Islamic. These beliefs change over time and the documents clearly show.
The Muslim Bible, or the Qur'an, taught that being a fair and honest merchant would pay off more than receiving a profit. In the time from 620-650 C.E. it was believed that merchants were cheaters if they would make a profit off of trade in a way rather than trading equally and fair. The views of the Muslims were that if an equal trade was made between two people they shall be blessed but if it was an unequal trade than the blessing shall be obliterated. It is believed that on the judgment day the true honest Muslim merchant will be at rank with the martyrs of the religion...
