In today’s world, almost all complex electronics circuits and systems, whether digital or analogue, will require a properly designed power supply to operate. Therefore, in order to reduce losses when transmitting power, it will be economical to supply electricity using alternating currents (AC). However, there are many instances where our daily applications are using a direct source (DC). Therefore in this laboratory session, we will be investigating the functions and characteristic of the basic building blocks of a DC power supply. This is to ensure that we effective and efficient equipments that will be able to convert the common AC power supply to our DC operating devices. 2. Objectives · To investigate the functions and characteristics of the following basic block of a DC power supply.
