Elisabeth Kubler-Ross was born in 1926 in Switzerland. However, in 1957, after receiving her medical degree from the University of Zurich, she moved to the United States to continue her studies at the University of Colorado. There, she completed her degree in psychiatry in 1963. From there, she began working with dying patients at the University of Colorado Medical Center. Her real break came in 1965 when Dr. Kubler-Ross was approached by a group of theology students from the Chicago Theological Seminary for help in a research project on death as a major crisis in human life. From this project, along with a lot of extra research, came her first book entitled On Death and Dying, published in 1969.
Now required in medical and nursing schools, the classic book On Death and Dying is a collection of Dr. Kubler-Ross's experience with the dying patients she worked with during her years of research. It includes interviews with not only the patients, but also from family and friends...
