The Manchurian Candidate
The Manchurian Candidate is a movie about a group of American soldiers who were prisoners of war during the Korean War in 1952. Sergeant Raymond Shaw and Captain Bennett Marco and their unit were brainwashed by a Chinese doctor who used hypnotism and drugs. The soldiers believe they are at a meeting of ladies discussing flowers. They really are in a room where there is a group of Koreans, Chinese and Russians watching the demonstration given by the Chinese doctor on how the soldiers are controlled by him through hypnotism. The doctor picks Raymond Shaw and orders him to strangle one of the soldiers and shoot another. Raymond Shaw obeys and none of the other soldiers react because they are all drugged and hypnotized.
Raymond Shaw returned to America and got the Congressional Medal of Honor because of his courage during the war. Captain Bennett Marco and the other soldiers in Raymond Shaw's unit said he saved their lives by killing enemy soldiers. In reality, Raymond Shaw was part of a plan to murder a presidential candidate and when the time came his "American operator" would give him instructions on what he had to do.
