Abstract:
The purpose of the enzyme lab was to learn about the role of enzymes in chemical reactions going inside the body cells by studying the action of the enzyme acetylcholine-esterase (AChE), to learn about the concept of enzyme activity and its method of measurement as applied to activity of the enzyme AChE, to learn about differences in tissue distribution of the enzyme by comparing AChE concentration in the brain and liver. Also, to learn how an enzyme concentration, temperature, pH can influence the rate of enzyme activity. The equipments used are a homogenizer, spectrophotometer, phosphate buffers, acetyl-thio-choline iodide, and test tubes. (Meisami, Essie.
